Located in Budapest’s vibrant 7th District, at Dohány Street No. 10 in Erzsébetváros, Seven Pearl stands as a remarkable testament to the city’s rich cultural heritage. Named after Empress Elisabeth (Sissi), wife of Emperor Franz Joseph I, this district captivates visitors with its central location, lively atmosphere, and unique blend of history, culture, and modernity. Adjacent to the majestic Dohány Street Synagogue—the largest active synagogue in Europe—Seven Pearl stands as a symbol of resilience and architectural beauty.

The origins of the building date back to 1844, when it was constructed in classical style by renowned architect József Hild. Initially a two-story structure, it underwent significant changes in 1870 when an additional floor was added under the guidance of József’s nephew, Károly Hild. This U-shaped building not only bore witness to major historical events such as the 1848–49 Revolution and the 1956 uprising, but also housed influential figures like stained-glass artist Miksa Róth and pioneering photojournalist Stefan Lorant. Its storied past includes a unique wartime history, with part of the property enclosed within the Jewish ghetto during World War II while another part remained outside.
